Saanen

The Saanen dairy goat hails from the Saanen Valley in Switzerland. Saanen does are heavy milk producers and usually yield 3-4 percent milk fat. They are also the largest of the milking breed of goat, they range from medium to large in size (weighing approximately 145 lbs/65kg) with rugged bone and plenty of vigor.

Saanens are white or light cream in color, with white being the preferred colour. Spots on the skin and small spots of color on the hair are allowable, but not desirable. The hair should be fine, ears should be erect. The face should be straight or dished; a Roman nose is discriminated against.

Christina continues the strengths in General Appearance and mammary of her Dam. She is level over her topline expecially level over her rump, she also scores high for rear leg set and pasterns. As a dry yearling she was shown 5 times and she won Jr. Ch every time she was shown. She was the GCH Jr. Saanen at the 2006 CGS West National Show. In 2007 at two years old she freshened with a very strong mammary system. She has a well defined medial suspensary ligament, long smooth blending fore udder attachment with ideal teat size and placement. She was shown 5 times this year, 3 x 1st , 2 x second (behind her twin sister Cyrena) and 2 x RGCH.. Christina classified VG87 as a two year old first freshening.
